1-2--know : Glow with this headset

by: News Straits Times

WANT to look cool while gaming with your mates? Just put on the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Frost Blue Headset (steelseries.com).

Glow with this headset

Sporting extremely bright, blue LED lights that glow through the outer mesh grill on each earcup, the headset has fully customisable lights and soundscape, thanks to the SteelSeries Engine software. Do not be fooled by its design. It’s incredibly lightweight, sports an over-the-head suspension design coupled with an active noise-cancelling microphone and circumaural earcups that feature 50mm driver units.

It’s covered in grey leather cushions to further dampen sound from the outside. With the active noise cancelling, “smart”microphone system, it can retract when not in use. There is no word on pricing just yet at press time, although additional details will be revealed when the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Frost Blue Headset hits the market sometime in the second quarter of the year.

HIGH-END COMPACT CAMERA
Canon (www.canon-europe.com) is back with what looks like another winner — the PowerShot G1 X compact that delivers dSLR levels of image quality, thanks to a large CMOS sensor, while offering full control despite coming in a highly portable metal body. If you are a casual shutterbug who wants more than what a regular digital camera can offer, without the bulk of a dSLR, then the Canon PowerShot G1 X fits the bill.

This new flagship compact will merge a large 14.3-megapixel Canon CMOS sensor based on EOS technology alongside its powerful DIGIC 5 processing, where it is capable of delivering an enhanced maximum ISO of 12800, while the exceptional 28mm wide-angle 4x optical zoom lens with 4-stop Image Stabilizer with Intelligent IS ensures most, if not all, shots are crisp and vivid.

You also get full manual control, 14-bit RAW shooting and DPP compatibility. Want to record that particular moment in video? Not a problem, as you can do so in Full HD quality with stereo sound to boot.

DUAL-VIEW CAMERA WITH WIFI
With its new DV300F digital camera, Samsung (www.samsung.com) intends to change the way digital cameras work yet again. This has a 1.5-inch front-facing LCD display that makes sure you can capture even the most difficult shots from various angles. A Child Mode shows an animation to keep the kids occupied and in place while you compose the portrait. Apart from that, you won’t be left out of the picture, thanks to a visual Self Timer that allows you to run into the frame on time.

Samsung also ups the ante by making the DV300F its first DualView model to deliver WiFi connectivity, allowing you to upload snapped photos and video directly to social media sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Flickr and YouTube without having to connect to a computer.

A microSD memory card is the preferred storage medium of choice and, with Samsung’s AllShare Play and Microsoft SkyDrive cloud service compatibility, there are even more options than ever to store and share your pictures as long as there is Internet connection. Other features include a 16-megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom and 25mm wide-angle lens.

FUTURISTIC MOUSE
The ThermalTake Level 10 M Mouse is definitely something out of the ordinary. Very rarely do you see a regular peripheral look as though it’s from the future, but ThermalTake has definitely outdone themselves this time, thanks to its collaboration with BMW Group subsidiary DesignWorksUSA (www.press.bmwgroup.com). This particular mouse is an inspiration from the Level 10 GT computer case that also looked futuristic, carrying along with it an aesthetically pleasing and functional design.

The Level 10 M Mouse might seem rather fragile, but it is hardy enough for everyday office use and abuse, being ergonomic in design while sporting a perforated palm surface that will create a passive airflow so that your sweaty palms remain cool and dry. In order to adjust the ThermalTake Level 10 M Mouse’s hollowed out body, just turn a screw on the top side until your palm finds a particular sweet spot. Price not available.

Samsung Updates Galaxy S range, readies for MWC

by: STAR NEWSPAPER

SAMSUNG has unveiled yet another Android-powered smartphone in its Galaxy S range in the lead-up to what industry insiders are hoping will be a big year for mobile developments at Mobile World Congress (MWC) later this month.
Galaxy S Advance

Samsung is rumoured to also be launching the successor to the popular Galaxy S II handset (the Galaxy S III) at MWC - a dual- or quad-core device with a 12-megapixel camera and a 4.5in or larger HD display. Additional rumours suggest that Samsung will instead unveil a larger Galaxy Tab.

The Tablet is said to have a 11.6in display and a 2GHz processor and to support the same stylus input as Samsung's Galaxy Note.

Blogs are also suggesting that Nokia will take the wraps off its 12-megapixel Lumia 910 handset, Sony will unveil up to 10 new phones, and Huawei will show off the "smartest, fastest and most high-performing smartphone."

While MWC rumors abound, the company is touting an entry-to-mid-range Android smartphone called the Galaxy S Advance.

The handset runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and sports a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 4in Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel and 1.3-megapixel cameras, and Samsung's Chat ON cross-platform communication service.

The S Advance will arrive in Russia in February. A gradual roll out is then planned for other countries. Pricing has not been announced but it is expected to fall in the mid- to low-end smartphone pricing bracket.

Gadget That Won't Make It 2012

SHOCK RESISTANT: The flexible screen technology used in smartphones such as the Nokia Kinetic, a prototype which was previewed at Nokia World 2011, may help to make future smartphones 'smashproof.' - Relaxnews

Looking forward to seeing smashproof smartphones, indoor location mapping, the launch of the Sony PlayStation4, and 3D taking over the world in 2012? It's not going to happen says market analyst ABI Research.

The technology industry may have high hopes for the arrival of cutting-edge technologies in 2012 but ABI believes that many of these innovations will take much longer to reach mass market penetration than others are predicting.

Years ago mobile phones used to be robust and could withstand falls from over two meters but that was before smartphones and their large glass displays replaced the polycarbonate plastics found in feature phones.

While there have been significant improvements in glass technology since the first range of smartphones arrived on the market, ABI believes consumers won't find smashproof phones on the market in 2012 - mobile manufacturers beg to differ.

There are a number of "life proof" shock-resistant smartphones available on the market today including the Motorola Defy+, the Motorola Titanium, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover, the Casio G'zOne Commando and the Sony Experia

Active and smartphone makers are experimenting with new technology too that will make these handheld devices even more indestructible.

Consumer electronics companies such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba have already shown off early prototypes of smartphones with flexible displays that can be twisted and bent without breaking.

Samsung is bullish on the technology and says it will have Tablets and smartphones with flexible screens ready by 2012.

Smartphones and Tablets have been a closely watched point of interest throughout 2011 with many high-profile launches (and a number of high-profile failures).

Many people around the world have grown to love their Tablet devices but despite their increased importance within the computing market, Tablets are still not capable enough to become a mass-media solution, insists ABI.

"With WiFi being the predominant form of Internet connectivity, media Tablets tend to stay at home during work and school hours along with the family pet. As an incremental device being used alongside laptops and smartphones, the use case to replace these existing devices has yet to materialise," comments Jeff Orr, group director, mobile devices, ABI.

Likewise, people will not rely on their mobile phones for Internet access in 2012 - or ever, predicts Aapo Markkanen, senior analyst, consumer mobility at ABI. He believes an influx of cheaper laptops and Tablets will keep consumers connected to the Internet into the future.

In November Google opened the front door to indoor maps, taking searchers inside shops, airports and malls.

Nokia, CSR, Ericsson, Mexens Technology and NextNav have also provided solutions for indoor mapping, but these technologies - along with relevant indoor location-based marketing - will not reach critical mass for a few more years.

"What we will likely see in 2012 are isolated mobile applications and services around individual high-traffic public areas like airports and malls.

The benefits are two-fold, with a new way to engage with the end user and improve their experience, while also providing key analytics on user behavior within these buildings," forecasts Patrick Connolly, senior analyst, telematics and navigation at ABI.

Next year is building up to be a big year for the gaming market with a number of long-awaited game releases on the horizon but consumers who are hoping to get their hands on next-generation game consoles such as the Microsoft Kinect 2 or the Sony PS4 will probably have to hold on until at least 2013.

There was a big push to make 2011 the year of 3D but even with a notable list of 3D film releases, the arrival of 3D-only TV stations and lots of new 3D TVs making their way into the market, consumers were not overly enthusiastic about the trend.

ABI says consumer attitudes towards 3D technology will be much the same in 2012. So what will be on the cards in 2012? A study by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) predicts that wireless and mobile devices will be the feature of this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.

According to the study Tablets are hot and cloud computing is still popular. Chipmaker Intel says super-thin, ultra-light, high performance laptops called ultrabooks will be the star of 2012.

The company has said it will focus on bringing a new range of touchscreen, Windows 8-based ultrabooks to market. - Relaxnews 2011

RESEARCH AND MARKETS : MALAYSIA INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY REPORT Q3 2011 - MARKET HAS STRONG GROWTH FUNDAMENTALS

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/10d8ba/malaysia_informati) has announced the addition of the "Malaysia Information Technology Report Q3 2011" report to their offering.

Malaysian IT spending is expected to grow to U$4.9bn in 2011, from US$4.5bn in 2010, when the market stabilised. IT spending should be boosted by ICT-friendly 2011 budget measures and growing interest in cloud computing, but much will depend on confidence in a sustainable economic recovery. There will be increasingly attractive opportunities in the IT services area as the government implements measures to make Malaysia a regional services hub. The government has a number of initiatives with favourable implications for demand for IT products and services, including computers for education programmes.
The IT market overall has strong growth fundamentals and key sectors will include government, telecoms and finance, including Islamic banking. The National Broadband Initiative has the potential to boost demand across all IT market segments.
Industry Developments

Malaysia's 2011 budget contained a number of measures to boost the IT industry and help stimulate ICT adoption in the country. Key measures included a two-year extension on import tax and sales tax exemption on broadband equipment, and the establishment of the MY Creative Content programme to encourage the development of local content. The tax exemption should stimulate the purchase of various types of connectivity devices, including notebook PCs.

In H111, the Malaysian government announced a new initiative to provide every adult in the country with a free Web-based email account. The Malaysia Email' initiative, which will enable the government to deliver tax returns, court documents and other official notices online, is expected to provide a major boost to e-government development. The government will spend US$16.6mn setting up the service. Malaysia named cloud computing as the most important of its top 10 strategic technology priorities for 2010. The government hopes that adoption of cloud computing, building on the National Broadband Initiative, could accelerate Malaysia's development into an advanced economy.

BIOMASS ENERGY TECHNOLOGY IN MALAYSIA - ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

Hoi W.K. and Koh M.P.
Forest Research Institute Malaysia, Kepong, 52109 Kuala Lumpur
Email: hoiwk@frim.gov.my

Biomass energy is highly emphasized in the 9th Malaysian Plan. There are currently many incentives given to the promotion on the use of renewable energy from biomass in Malaysia. The biomass technologies ranged from the conversion of biomass into solid fuel such as briquettes and charcoal production to the direct combustion of biomass for use in the palm oil, rubber and brick making industries and the commercial use of biomass energy through the Small Renewable Energy Program.

Certain amount of biomass is converted into liquid fuel by pyrolytic process to manufacture bio oil. Part of this paper is allocated to the development of bio diesel in Malaysia. For gaseous fuel, some biomass is converted into biogas through fermentation and also through gasification.

This paper reviewed the current status of the technologies used in Malaysia, with special emphasis given to environmentally clean and economically viable systems. A number of environmental issues related to volatile emissions were highlighted together with numerous industrial applications of biomass energy.

A detail techno-economic analysis of the technology were highlighted. Issues related to labor cost and availability of raw material were also given prominence. Cogeneration technologies from biomass energy were given special focus in the paper especially towards an environment friendly system that will produce high quality fuel from a number of different types of biomass (with special emphasis to the use of waste from the oil palm industries) as well as producing high grade fuel from low quality waste such as feedstock.

A lot of emphasis were given a cost efficient preventive pre-treatment of these low-grade solid multi fuels by low temperature pyrolysis in downsized reductive environment for removal of hazardous air pollutants prior burning to improvement of burning efficiency of the revitalized solid fuel power plant-CHP up to 300 MW capacities.

This technology has been developed to meet the open – liberalized energy and cogeneration market demands. The paper concluded with the need for a good commercialization plan that will decrease the risk and maximize the chances for success for biomass energy in Malaysia. A model framework to develop suitable commercialization programs will also be highlighted.

DPM Urges Malaysian Companies To Tap Overseas Markets

PERTH: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has urged more Malaysian companies to explore overseas markets and expand potential through cooperation with foreign companies involved in various key sectors, especially technology, oil and gas.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin listens to a briefing on Remotely Operated vehicles (ROV) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) involving advanced technology, by a Sapura Group executive at the company's transport factory in Perth yesterday.

These sectors he said, had big potential with a market reaching billions of ringgit globally and is among those identified in helping the country achieve the objectives of the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA).

He said Sapura Group, which is cooperating with an Australian company in the production of Remotely Operated vehicles (ROV) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) involving advanced technology, is an example of a Malaysian company enjoying success overseas.

"Sapura is already known as a company that has pioneered a number of sectors, particularly in oil and gas.

"So, we are confident that with the presence of such a Malaysian company, this sector will not just expand but become a main contributor together with others who are already involved in it.

"This is because in 10 years time, the 12 NKEAs will become the catalyst to drive Malaysia's economy and oil and gas is one of areas," he added.

Muhyiddin was speaking after a visit to Total Marine Technology (TMT) which is wholly-owned by SapuraCrest Petroleum Berhad at Bibra Lake, near here on Wednesday.

Accompanying him on the visit was Sapura Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Datuk Seri Shahril Shamsuddin.

TMT is the producer of the ROV and UAV's supplied to various industries, especially oil and gas, as well as defence.

Seeing Sapura as a local company with potential, Muhyiddin hoped that by entering into a strategic partnership with an Australian entrepreneur, it would add value to the fields explored by both companies in future.

Meanwhile, Shahril said the cooperation between both companies which also involves research and development, can particularly enhance expertise and human resource skills in the company and in Malaysia generally.

"Our main purpose is to acquire know how technology, so we can use it for the rest of the group by sending our people to Australia for training and exposure to major oil companies and then send them back.

"This will enhance the level of competency and exposure for our engineers," he added.

Shahril also said Sapura has at present invested about US$200 million in TMT.-- BERNAMA

The Changing Face Of Information Technology

To say that change is coming to the enterprise is like saying the sun will rise in the east tomorrow.
But even while change has been a constant factor in data infrastructure since the first mainframe was deployed, it seems that both the pace and the scope of changes taking place today are knocking on the very pillars of IT, threatening to remake the entire industry into something completely unrecognizable in a few short years.

Indeed, the very notion of what is and is not the enterprise seems very much in the air as virtualization and the cloud spread responsibility for data infrastructure across multiple independent organizations that could conceivably reside on opposite sides of the globe. At the same time, new technologies like SSDs and high-speed, unified networking are starting to tear down much of what is considered to be "the data center" to the point that the very role of IT as an enterprise asset is starting to come into question.

The drivers behind all of this are the increasingly sophisticated demands of the user. Where workers were once content to engage in data environments for simple communications and number crunching, the norm these days is a highly collaborative, always-on experience in which the entire relationship between individual and work environment is defined by the level of access to IT resources. And that means if you don't have the means to accommodate user needs, they will simply go out on their own and get them.

"Cloud computing and social networking are two key drivers of change in the current IT landscape," said Michael Keen, vice president of presales at management and automation system developer ASG Software. "These drivers are forcing the hands of many IT executives to come up with a strategy, and a way to execute against that strategy, to drive agility and flexibility in their infrastructure so they can provide a quick and efficient way for IT to adapt to these changes. Traditional enterprise IT models have always emphasized an opposite view — that change is not the norm, but the exception. However, in today’s current IT landscape, rapid change is the norm and IT must evolve their enterprise models, people, processes and technology to acknowledge this shift."

The challenge, however, is to adapt to these changing environments quickly enough to keep pace with user expectations, but not too quickly so that the new systems and architectures are left obsolete before their full value can be realized.

"Being able to adapt to change is critical to any organization’s success, so it is imperative that (IT) develop a standards-based framework that leverages best-of-breed technologies and components to create a new level of integration between business processes and IT," Keen said. "In addition, IT needs to build their new organization with four fundamental ideals in mind; simplification, standardization, modularity and integration. By applying these ideals they can lay the groundwork for an infrastructure that will meet the demands of their customers, business partners, external customers, etc."

Informational Technology

Information technology (IT) is the acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information by a microelectronics-based combination of computing and telecommunications. The term in its modern sense first appeared in a 1958 article published in the Harvard Business Review, in which authors Leavitt and Whisler commented that "the new technology does not yet have a single established name. We shall call it information technology (IT). "Some of the modern and emerging fields of Information technology are next generation web technologies, bioinformatics, cloud computing, global information systems, large scale knowledgebases, etc.

About Me

annyeonghaseyo chingu !

My name is Khairun Nisa bt Abd. halim. I'm 20 years old. I was born in Hospital Tg Karang on Feb 10 1992. Currently studying in UiTM Kampus Bandaraya Johor Bahru. In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me. Everything that comes out of me is authentically mine, because I alone chose it -- I own everything about me: my body, my feelings, my mouth, my voice, all my actions, whether they be to others or myself. I own my fantasies, my dreams, my hopes, my fears. I own my triumphs and successes, all my failures and mistakes. Because I own all of me, I can become intimately acquainted with me. By so doing, I can love me and be friendly with all my parts. I know there are aspects about myself that puzzle me, and other aspects that I do not know -- but as long as I am friendly and loving to myself, I can courageously and hopefully look for solutions to the puzzles and ways to find out more about me. However I look and sound, whatever I say and do, and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time is authentically me. If later some parts of how I looked, sounded, thought, and felt turn out to be unfitting, I can discard that which is unfitting, keep the rest, and invent something new for that which I discarded. I can see, hear, feel, think, say, and do. I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be productive, and to make sense and order out of the world of people and things around me. I own me, and therefore, I can engineer me. I am me, and I am Okay.
